Today I went on my first bike ride of the year, managing about 30 miles, which in turn put me past 100 for the year. Serious cyclists among you will note that since today is January 20th, that means I haven't been taking quite as much advantage of all this end times weather we've been getting as I could have. This was actually probably the first time I've gone over 30 miles in over a year--I only did two hard(ish) rides last year, both in North Carolina--because of the broken tailbone I started out 2005 with.
Today was gorgeous here. I did an "out and back," which means I rode fifteen miles out into the country, then turned around and came back home along pretty much the same route (one way streets made for slight alterations right around the house). I went out to the Equus Run Vineyards on the banks of the Elkhorn, home of "Kentucky's Best Wine" (shut up!). The terrain, as pretty much all terrain around tends to be, was rolling. And since I've got this nifty new iBook and nifty new mapping software, you can see just how rolling with the route elevation profile.
